GUIDED HIKE ON BLACK ROCK LOOP

DATES: Saturday, October 25, 2003
LOCATION: White Tank Mountain Regional Park
COST: $5.00 per vehicle
TIME: Hikes begin at 9:00 a.m.
Join Interpretive Ranger Mark Lansing on this 2-mile hike along the Black Rock Long Loop trail. Hike should last about 90 minutes. Ranger Lansing will talk about the Sonoran Desert flora and fauna, along with interpreting the park’s petroglyphs and Hohokam occupation sites. Join him on this walk thru time to experience how and where the Hohokam lived and view the ‘Rock art’ they left. This hike is suitable for beginner and elderly hikes although sturdy boots with ankle support should be worn. Wear protection from the sun and carry plenty of drinking water.
DIRECTIONS: TAKE OLIVE AVENUE 4 MILES WEST OF COTTON LANE. CONTINUE STRAIGHT ON WHITE TANK MOUNTAIN ROAD 2 MILES, AND TURN RIGHT INTO THE PARKING LOT AT THE BLACK ROCK LOOP TRAILHEAD.
